One problem was GPS reception, acceptable but not great. Another problem was that iTunes only works in portrait but not in landscape mode. Surely a glitch Apple overlooked (among others [link] [link]) but nevertheless a point to consider.

Last but not the least I wanted a rock solid slide-in solution, not a clip that required a bi-manual fiddle type activity of any sorts.

So I ordered a mount clip and a phone clip from ProClipUSA.

First I realized that the parts required assembly to a degree probably not provided by the seller. The swivel part (front) is fixed to the base plate (back) using the two enclosed little black screws. But I figured these are not firm enough as the parts still contained minimal wiggle upon forceful testing.

So I supplemented these with two additional screws that I installed. This shows the same from the back side. Now the iPhone mount is already in place.

As the enclosed phone mount swivel screw is not sufficient at all, I replaced the central mount with a long M3 screw and nut.

The assembled clip nicely attaches to the car with a bracket. I placed both power and audio cable inside a black sheath.

The cable sheath was fixed to the cables using a cable tie.

To improve signal reception, I added a ProGin SBG-190 GPS booster antenna [Google Search | ProGin ].
