Data handling (GDPR)

This website does not allow for user accounts, log-in or user posting. With that, it does not collect data that is associated to any particular person other than the administrator. As a consequence, it is not possible to match visitor data to a particular person other than the administrator.

This site does collect visitor data (browser, IP, visited page, time, date), however without link to a person for content and performance analysis (SlimStat, Google Analytics) and for web security as part of data breach procedure (Google Analytics, Project Honey Pot, Bot Blocker). No other automatic processing is performed with that data. The data is automatically deleted after an interval. It is not available publically. If any person wishes to have details of their visit trail looked at closely, extracted for revision, or removed from the log, please contact me to discuss further proceedings. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

As data breach procedure, this website logs hacker attempts, which means it logs the details of people trying to gain unauthorized access. If any person wishes to discuss their hacker attempt, and have their hacker attempt data storage reviewed, and possibly removed, please contact me to discuss further proceedings. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you ever you manage to upload images to the website, you most likely successfully hacked it. According to GDPR provisions you still might wish to avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Otherwise, visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

The stored visitor data is used on a regular basis to check for usage patterns and to improve content in relation to that. As example, if keyword searches fail to reach the relevant blog post, then the apparent mismatch may be used to revise the blog post content to better match frequent search words. More importantly, the visitor data is used for website security purposes.

Visitors have the option to leave comments for certain posts. If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.  The comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If a visitor requires to have their comment anonymized or deleted, please contact me to discuss further proceedings. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture may be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

This website does not generate any revenue, nor is it set up for that. There is no cookie derived automatically targeted advertising on this website. There is no e-mail newsletter. There only is an RSS feed a visitor may subscribe to.
