The new (2022/23) V2P Prehensor seems difficult to tweak in terms of adding rubbers. The main reason seems to be that the lever (L) lacks wide shoulders to hold extra rubbers. Also the preinstalled cord risks to fall off due to low lever shoulders.

What do do?

So the first thing I did to fix the preinstalled cord in place was to cross it, so it now follows an x-path through the device. You can figure that one out easily.

The rubbers were a bit harder to fit, as it is a bit of a 3D topology issue.

Here is a step-by-step instruction.

Take a rubber band such as illustrated by the red line in the diagram below.

Make it two loop ends, 1 and 2.

A: Pick loop end 1, and pull it through the lever bar (L) but so that opposite loop end 2 stays outside the lever bar.

B: Then pull loop end 1 over the tip (T) of the finger opposite the lever bar (L).

C: Then pull opposite loop end 2 also over that tip (T).

If you do that correctly you thus installed an extra rubber band.

If it is too long, make circular loops of 1, 2, or both, and pull these over the tip T.

This can be repeated a number of times, there is really space for quite a few.

In combination with soft padding and nitrile covered textile glove parts that I added over the fingers for added grip strength, the device becomes a grip monster. I started to rely on the V2P since shoulder surgery last winter [link], and these modifications come quite naturally.

I then proceeded to not use supermarket kitchen type freezer bag rubber band such as here, which just served as temporary solution (but very cheap and super effective). Instead I got a few meters of rubber elastic rope and mounted a bit of that instead. Makes for a more compact look and likely lasts a bit longer, we’ll see.
